Absolutely! Everything they serve here is amazing. Even something as simple as a baked potato.
Simple, fresh food. My hubby lives the grilled oysters. Not very comfortable.
*Cash only* Pan fried oysters and homemade chowder were delicious! Service was a bit slow, but the family was hopping to get everyone accommodated. Bring cash as they don't accept cards.
Hands down the best and most extensive menu and quality food in South Bend, WA. Everything is fresh, and Manuel aimed to please. The grilled oysters with everything were superb smothered in supreme sauce and the pork street tacos I'm pretty sure were wrapped in fresh hand made corn tortillas. The clam chowder was chunky and delicious and the lemon/lime~ades were hand squeezed to please. Can't wait to go back!
Amazing BBQ oysters that we were lucky enough to stop and try. Definitely worth it for all that pass by this spot.
Wow! The grilled oyster experience was out of this world. Not only do you get the tastiest oysters you will ever eat, you get to watch it all happen outside your table window. I will never drive 101 again without stopping here. Thank you, Riverside, for the memorable and delicious experience!
Food was good nice atmosphere
Great to eat watching the guy cook your food on the grill outside. Great hamburger.
OMG! Everyone should make sure to drive through South Bend and stop here even if it's somewhat on your way. Best oysters I've ever had. You can tell they were super fresh too. Which the owner also mentioned. Had pan fried, 'on the grill with everything' and sauteed oysters. Wow wow wow. The owner also smokes ribs, but it was too early in the day. He said those would be no earlier than 3:30pm.
Good good, good vibes.
Over priced for what you get. The restaurant was so cold the waiter had on a Carhart jacket. Cheese bread was a joke. Won’t be back.
Best oysters I have ever had! Fresh straight from the water, a short wait was worth every second. The owner cooks them himself very humble and nice man that is passionate about his food. I live three hours away and I'm going to bring my husband back just to try this place. Yes it is that good 😁 thank you so much
Wonderful food and owners! Get the BBQ oysters and just be sure to bring cash, no cards accepted.
Go ANYWHERE else! Worst customer service I've ever seen and food wasnt worth the outrageous price.
Stopped on a beautiful September afternoon when we saw 'em with a huge oil barrel grill going in the front. Really glad we stopped and ordered the "Grilled Oysters with Everything" which took (as warned) 20 minutes and came to the table still simmering. The carmelized sauce was tangy and delicious, with garlic and herbs--absolutely mouth watering. We also enjoyed hand made shakes. Beautiful view of the river and good service. Can't wait to stop by again for more of the same!
BEST BBQ smoked oysters... special and worth the wait !!! Call an hour or more ahead is appreciated and wait time helpful :-).
Owner is an interesting character who takes pride in what he does, cook food from scratch. Honest about what he has and does and makes no excuses or apologies. We were looking for a local joint on our epic road trip and decided to stop here and we weren't disappointed with the authentic local feel of the place. No chain restaurant stuff here, everything is made from scratch. The food was OK for the most part with the exception of the grilled oysters which were fantastic. If I could give it 3.5 stars I would.
This place has a local and authentic quality. We were lucky enough to get the last dozen oysters of the lunch hour and they were cooked just how we like it. The owner's sauce was tasty too. Only wish we could have gotten there earlier to get some more oysters. The staff was friendly and the food was genuine.
COMFORTABLE. SMALL PORTIONS. CASH ONLYRead the reviews, they seem to say the same things which are true. After a long day at Cape Dissapointment and Long Beach, this restaurant served as a much needed rest stop. The decor was beautiful. The food was PRICEY for what we received. The man who was serving was slightly rude, but generally unproblematic. There were some mix ups with our order. We ordered two lemonades and got.. two beers? My party shrugged it off, no big deal. The hibiscus drink was interesting, but pretty. The food had interesting flavors. What my party appreciated the most was the comfortable and quiet environment, but the food is nothing to write home about. Would not return.
Delicious food and great service.
Food was good. Meals came 1/2 hour apart.
Awesome food, friendly mom and pop shop through a small logging and fishing community. Not sure what people expect in a small town but it’s very common in places like this to accept cash only. The oysters are the best in Washington you will find anywhere. Simple establishment, everything is cooked fresh and on the grill. Don’t expect everything to be done in 15 minutes unless you are looking for frozen, or precook ingredients. The freshness its worth the wait.
This is a small and very simple place. Most food is cooked outdoors on the smoker, and it's very plain inside. But the food we tried was amazing. They make some of the best fried oysters we have tried anywhere. Just for that, it's worth a visit. We will be returning when we pass through again .
The Bacon & Mushroom Burger is delicious, you can tell it's made fresh and I don't know what type of bun they used, but it was especially worth it because everything tasted great! Only a small negative, they only take cash, so I had to drive down the road to an ATM.
COVID-19 WARNING!!! Unsanitary conditions exist in every aspect of this business. Unwashed hands and unwashed food, no proper temping, rats, ants, masks are worn rarely, no customer service at all, dirty tables and chairs, no proper dishwashing station, no handwashing station, no walk-in, dirty cups on very old drying mats, the list goes on and on. Protect yourself and others by not supporting places like this. This is a new age and the old mentalities cant keep up with modern health standards. River view should give up and close forever.
The oysters were delicious, they ran out very quickly
Best grilled oysters I've ever had. The captains platter was worth every penny, and I wish I could take all the chowder home, because everything was beyond delicious. 10/10, will be back again!
Best smoked bbq oysters ever!!! We drove by on our road trip and saw the bbq pit smoking and we had to stop to check it out. Bring CASH too..they weren’t taking debit or credit. Luckily we had just enough cash to try the oysters. The man making the oysters gives every oyster love soooo be prepared to wait a good time for the food but the wait was worth it.
Fresh, amazing oysters. Local and I appreciate the community feel. .... Grilled salmon or grilled halibut sandwich are both great.
Didn't even get to eat. Pulled in at five as we have driven by for years and have always planned to eat here. Thought it would finaly be a great place for an early dinner. We were told they were closed as we approached the front door without any explanation or apology.
Great little place. Looks a little rough around the edges, but the food was fantastic. The owner knows what he's doing. Had clam chowder, grilled oyster, and husband had a burger. All delicious. Best part was watching the owner cook our food outside on the smoker, with a flamethrower, in the rain. That's dedication!
Very friendly, fabulous fresh sea food. The owner was very welcoming, Explaining to us, he gets all sea food fresh daily. No preservatives, no breading. Yes you might pay more than normal. But I'll go for fresh any day.
The BBQ oysters will change your life!!
Nice bbq oysters
Best damn BBQ oysters in the state! If your passing though South Bend, this is a must stop! WOW
Excellent BBQ! The owner recommend the Oyster Stew to my wife (she'd never had it before) and she said it was marvellous! We highly recommend stopping at River View Dining on your way to or from Astoria, Seaside, and all points south.
I happened to stop by the other day because we were on a long drive and needed to eat. Turned out to be a great decision. Amazing Salmon Chowder and yes, get the pan fried oysters! The owner is a very nice man and this is a wonderful stop for the hungry, weary traveler to re-energize. The decor on the inside is fun, too. Give this place a try the next time you are driving through South Bend.
This place is always amazing!! I recommend the clam chowder and either the fish tacos or the fish & chips. The grilled oysters with everything are also a must!! 😋🙌
Casual, understaffed, but great oysters grilled outdoors fresh. Fish n chips was more fish than chips and was awesome.
This place is fantastic! We stop here every time we pass through this area. Whether you are a fan of fried, sauteed or grilled, this is some of the freshest and best testing seafood around. If the smell of the smoker outside doesn't close you in, the pride taken in every compliment given, for excellent food, and the happy, satisfied customer should certain convince you to give River View a try. Perhaps you'll become a regular too.
Amazing food, very sweet people. Their oysters are delicious. Would definitely come again!
Fresh home made clam chowder fish & chips my husband good size pulled pork barbequed very good food. Cash only
Loved this place. Oysters and burgers were amazing. Owner was great.
Great little no-nonsense authentic small town diner. We were attracted by the wood-fired bbq outside the diner and decided to stop for a late lunch. We found the diner inviting and as indicated, no nonsense with eclectic decorations. The older gentleman, whom I assume was the proprietor, took our order. I decided to splurge and ordered the oyster platter at $40. The kids ordered the chicken strips and my wife ordered the bbq pork sandwich.Overall, we were satisfied with the quality and presentation of our meals. I was happy with my oyster platter and found it a unique experience in trying various styles of prepared oysters. It looks like River View Dining has been there for a very long time and must be doing something right. Definitely worth a try.
Oysters are fresh and delicious. Pan fried oysters are from two blocks down. Oyster shooters are from a town 15 miles away. Tartar sauce was really good too. Cute decor.
The man with the mustache was so incredibly rude that we left before ordering. Their menus were sticky.
Had a really bad experience here, the waiter (older man with brownish hair and facial hair) acted like we were a nuisance for just showing up! When he told us it would be a long wait (which was fine since they were moderately busy) we said it was alright and we didn’t mind waiting. He then needlessly told us we were on “his time” and asked my son to not eat candy at the table.. It was so unwelcoming we just left.
Best oysters I have ever had. BBQ oyster with amazing sauce. True family atmosphere and welcoming husband and wife team We will be back!
Generous portions, deep fried shrimp was ohh, soo, delicious! The rest of the Captain’s Plate was delicious, also. The baked potato was perfect. The homemade lemonade tasted just as I remember my grandmother’s fresh squeezed tasted. Excellent reception by the two employees, along with an interesting conversation with the owner. We would come back again.
Wow! These grilled oysters were out of this world and the pulled pork was fantastic. What a find. We have already talked about driving here from Olympia for lunch. Everything is fresh cooked/bbq'ed and the wait is well worth it.
